The 5:40AM flight out of JFK seemed a daunting prospect, but it made complete sense when we stepped onto the tarmac at EYW a couple of minutes past 10AM...a quick cab ride had us at the little cottage on Simonton St we'd rented for the week......we decompressed for a while and then, with a hankering for a blackened mahi melt sandwich and a Red Stripe, headed out for the first of many visits to the Schooner Wharf Bar....

Just as we didn't get a picture of every sight we saw, neither did we get a picture of every meal we ate, so the rest of the story will be a random selection of images created whenever we remembered we had a camera, as well as whatever thoughts those images provide.....i.e. whatever thoughts haven't been lost to short term memory loss.......

We'd never been to Santiago's Bodega so lunch sounded like a great idea one day....

But hands down, the best plate on the table that day was the dates stuffed with goat cheese, wrapped in prosciutto....

Next time, we'll order a new plate every 15-20 minutes and spend the better part of a day on Santiago's front porch.....

And all too soon we were at the airport for the flight back to America.....leaving sucks, but leaving with a ticket to come back sucks a little less......
